I'm not sure what my
Anthropology professors back at Vassar would say about this trailer for the upcoming sequel to Japan's cash cow zombie videogame series
Resident Evil. Yes, it's a white guy killing a lot of deformed black people. Kind of like
Falling Down, but with a
SWAT officer on the African continent. But as a continuation of the Resident Evil series, should we understand that these zombies are the result of meddling by
Umbrella, the Walmart-like global corporation of RE lore? Is this just an anti-corporate Michael Moore documentary with zombies? Or is it a reference to the horrors of
Darfur, some kind of allegory for how little we seem to be able to help in the face of true man against man evil. How many people can we offend with sloppy symbolism?
Or maybe it's just a videogame with zombies and you're supposed to shoot them in the head. But I doubt it.
